The 2016 SPA Masters was contested on 17 and 18 September at Troon PC. The top 12 ranked teams from the Grand Prix Series battled it out in a round robin to determine the 2016 Masters team and those who would compete for Scotland in 2017. A big thank you to Troon PC for their hospitality and the delicious lunches on both days.
At the end of play on Saturday, Triaxle were sitting in pole position with 5 wins, their only loss coming narrowly in the first round to last year’s Masters, Les Cremants. Maboule, The 3 Bears, Les Cremants and The Dukes of Marr all had 4 wins.
Sunday saw Triaxle continue to dominate, racking up another 4 wins and taking the title. The Sex Pisteols shook off their shaky performance on Saturday to win all five matches on Sunday and finish in second place. Les Cremants strong perfmornace continued, with another four wins on Sunday to take third. Maboule managed only two wins on Sunday but clung on to take fourth.
