It is with deep sadness that we pay tribute to John Watson, who died in May. John took an active role in the administrative side of the sport in the early 2000s, and was President of the SPA between 2004 and 2006.
Although he stopped playing petanque a few years ago, before this he competed regularly in SPA competitions and was a regular member of the Scotland Squad for the Home Nations and Celtic Challenge. He also represented Scotland at the Veteran’s European Championships in Copenhagen in 2012.
John was a lively character and he loved petanque and its people. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
