20 teams contested Grand Prix 2 at Inverleith PC on Sunday 20 May. With a couple of teams adding a 4th player in this round, player numbers topped 65. Another very healthy turnout. Thank you to all the players who continue to support our events.
The weather was good, glorious at times, and Inverleith PC and Ferranti Bowling Club ensured that we were well fed and watered nicely.
It turned out to be a very close competition, with the eventual winners not being settled until all the games were completed thanks to the BHN/fBHN tie breaking score system. In the end, Pretty Vacant (Shirley Legge, Robbie Stronach and Derek Adam) emerged as the winners with 5 wins, pipping the Sex Pisteols (Richard Carter, John Wilson and Colin Stewart) into second who, with 5 wins and identical BHN had just one fewer fBHN point. Les Campignons Sauvage (Mags Montgomery, Colin Montgomery, Dani Cassini and Matt Neilson) came third, also with 5 wins but slightly lower BHN. An exciting finish to a fine day of petanque.
The full set of results and standings with 1 round still to play are shown below. The Grand Prix Series looks like it is going to go down to the wire this year.
The next round will be held on 10 June at Fochabers.
