GRAND PRIX 1 REPORT – The first Grand Prix of the season was one of the highest attended in recent years with 21 teams travelling to Perth to contest the first round of the 2019 Grand Prix series. It was great to see new teams in attendance including representation for the first time from Moffat PC and Glasgow PC.
The format remained the same as last year, using the Swiss ladder system over 6 timed rounds, with the weather staying mild and dry for the entire day.
After a very busy and long day of petanque, Pretty Vacant (Shirley Legge, Derek Adam & Robbie Stroanch) emerged as the winners with a perfect record of 6 wins. Runners up were Triaxle (Emma Montgomery, Kevin Johnstone, Paul Fletcher & Matt Neilson) and collecting the bronze medal were The Sex Pisteols (Lynn Jenkins, Richard Carter, Colin Stewart & John Wilson).
A massive thank you to Perth Petanque Club for hosting and setting up the extra pistes needed to accommodate the 21 teams playing.
Round 2 of the Grand Prix series is just around the corner, as the series heads North to Fochabers on the 19th of May.
