Sunday 29th November 10.45am for 11am start
Lunch approximately 1.15pm in the newly refurbished Marr Rugby Club clubhouse
The first Gardiner Quaich competition took place over 20 years ago. A Quaich was bought by sponsor Robin and he also donated 2 bottles of Whisky. Initially Annabel & Bill Taylor helped with the proceedings and more recently Anne took over the organisation. The idea was to play petanque, have lunch, a bit of fun and celebrate St Andrew’s Day in style.
This was normally a club Championship Competition open to members of Troon Petanque Club but as the championship has already been decided we would like to invite as many people as possible to come along and remember Robin, hence the open invite to all Scottish petanque players. After lunch there will be a short film show re the Gardiner Quaich, this will be followed by a Scottish quiz. There will be prizes for every player and a prize for the best dressed or most outrageous outfit (Scottish Theme).
It would be lovely to see as many of Robin’s Petanque friends there as possible.
You can choose to participate in the petanque only, or in the lunch/entertainment only, but hopefully in both.
The lunch menu is as follows:
Starter: Cullen skink or Melon
Main: Haggis (neeps and tatties), or Steak Pie, or Mushroom risotto (vegan, gluten free)
Tea and coffee and tablet and shortbread.
Charged at cost of £12/adult, £8 for child under 12 yrold.
Petanque competition is £3/person (free for children up to 16 yrold)
Please come as a Doubles team.
Raffle prizes will be appreciated.
